Mumbai Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is Mumbai's top tourist attraction. It is an impressive stone monument on the shore of the Arabian sea.

Having your picture taken like this in front of the Gateway is a thing. Lots of photographers are there making a business of it.

Zoom in to read the dedication inscribed in the stone at the top of the arches.

It's a most impressive sight! There are a lot of tour boats that take people out into the ocean.

Since it's a proper tourist thing to do, we did it. It was so fun!

Tourists get a real kick out of feeding the seagulls. Some things are universal. I was not impressed. Lol!

Good times on the tour boat. 👍🙏😊

Facing the Gateway of India is the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel (on the left). It's the most luxurious hotel in Mumbai. A cup of chai costs 300 rupees (compared to 30 rupees or less elsewhere).

The architecture is amazing. Thank you for your compliment. What I'm wearing is called a punjabi suit (or salwar kameez). It's a set with pants, tunic, and scarf (called a dupattaa). A sari is a long piece of fabric that is wrapped around a slip, a choli (the top, that leaves your midriff bare), and your body and held in place with a couple of pins. I did get some sari wrapping lessons while I was in Ganeshpuri, since I don't have any Indian ladies at home to dress me. Here's a pic of me in a sari.

Funny story, every time I tried to wrap myself in a sari, someone would end up redressing me. Lol! There are pleats…
